DUCTED HEAT PUMPS
Tosot’s line of ducted heat pumps are called the APEX. Ducted heat pumps utilize your home’s existing ductwork to distribute hot or cold air throughout your home to maintain comfort. The Apex system can either replace your furnace with an air handling unit and optional electric backup heat, or work in conjunction with your furnace (also utilizing it for backup heat) by adding a coil (also called “Dual Fuel”).
DUCTLESS HEAT PUMPS
Ductless heat pumps are exactly what their name indicates… they provide heating/ cooling without the use of ducts! Have you ever been on vacation and seen a white box on the wall that is blowing hot or cold air? That is a Ductless Heat Pump… they are not commonplace in Alberta but very popular in other parts of the world. While this style of unit may not be ideal for retrofitting a whole home, they can be very useful for adding additional heating/ cooling to specific areas of your home as needed. They also work great for cabins, garages, and many other applications!
